Comments during a hike in the rain

On seeing a manhole cover with an "S" on it, Thing 1 says: "That's there because I'm a favor to the world.  Because I investigate how to make everyone better."  Then, "I wish I could be a critter in this wonderful world."  And finally, "Daddy, we're like Thing 1 and Thing 2 in the Arctic!
